The New Radicals, fronted by Gregg Alexander, were an American rock band who made their name in the late 1990s. All song were written and produced by Alexander. 1998’s album, Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed Too, was their sole release. Influenced by rock and soul songs of the 70s, their alternative album was a massive hit an alternative album heavily influenced by the rock and soul of the 1970s.
Their first single “You Get What You Give”, which caused controversy by mocking celebrities at the end of the track, was a top 5 hit in the UK. Just before the release of their second single “Someday we’ll know”, Alexander dismantled the band, blaming tiredness of tours and interviews.
Alexander went on to write and produce for other artists.
In 2008, Alexander, with producer Rick Nowels and most of the original New Radicals lineup reunited as The Not So Silent Majority to record the song “Obama Rock” in support of Barack Obama’s election campaign.
